Didn't get to train on Sunday due to the weather.

Yeah, I know, not exactly the most hardcore reason in the world, but we had a freezing rain on Saturday that froze overnight, leaving the roads covered in ice. My condo is at the bottom of a steep hill which was literally impossible to climb, and resulted in my car sliding backwards, narrowly missing a row of parked cars at the bottom.

Rather then wreak my car (along with several of my neighbors) I decided it wasn't worth the risk (after a couple more tries of course).

So fast forward to Monday, which was a full range shirt day. After losing a few pounds since worlds, My 52 Ace has been fitting considerably better, allowing my to touch 585 last month. So for this session, I wanted to take something more in the opener range, about 615-625.

Went up like so

bar x a bunch
95 x 5
135 x 5
185 x 1
225 x 1
275 x 1
315 x 1

3 board

365 x 1

Jumped to 455 and got my shirt on

455 - 3 board
495 - 2 board
545 - 1 board
585 - half board
625 - MISS!!!

What I didn't realize until I weighed myself after the workout was that I had gained back about 7 lbs since last month's shirt work. Now my shirt is back to too small. I actually was able to get it to touch, but I had to contort myself so much to get it down I had nothing left for the press.

This was kind of a bummer because I had to make the call right then and there that the XPC Finals are officially out of the question for me this year. While my lower body lifts are still quite a ways off from before my layoff, I was considering going just to have fun, and hopefully hit a big bench.

With no shirt, and not enough time to break in a new one (Aces take me forever to break in) There's really no point in going. This sucks, but it will force me to take a step back and be even more conservative with my lower body work and rehab. Since my upper back strength is actually quite good (for me) at the moment, I still may enter a local be ch meet in the spring just for fun, and to put some new gear to the test.

Oh well, I have another couple of shirts on the way that should be here next week. A 54 Ace, and something that's going to be a bit of a surprise. Needless to say, I feel like a kid on Christmas.
