Spent the weekend in Pittsburgh, mainly to visit the dogs. Weekends are cut short now, I finally got a job. Well, it's been a week but I'm not really one to blab about much. Weight has definitely been lifted off my shoulders - I've never not worked so looking for a job for the past 6 weeks has been a challenge and an emotional rollercoaster. It was worth it to stick it out; not everything you want comes easy. I kept a positive mindset and Casey has been supportive and encouraging along the way.
Got in Friday night and was welcomed home to wagging tails and dinner made. I'm trying to slowly cut weight so he made a healthy dinner- salmon and salad. Saturday ritual: breakfast and house chores. He usually makes dinner plans so we met up with a college buddy of his and his wife. I love to try new restaurants and he picks a new one every time. Appetizers were great but I'm still not sure what I ate for the main course. I thought I ordered one thing but it looked completely different from what I read. I ate it anyways.
Sunday: Casey was asked to visit Elite Custom Fitness which is about 40 minutes away from the house and asked me to come with him. Tim, the owner, was nice enough to let me train there.
Heavy squats for triples was the plan.
225lbs x 3
255lbs x 3
275lbs x 3
Strength was there but I was having some technical issues, so I went up in weight and did doubles instead. I was just not getting tight under the bar and the bar kept rolling everywhere.
275 x 3 with wraps
295lbs x 2 with wraps

Pause squats - 225lbs x 3 x 3 (3 sec count)
Front squats - 135lbs 3 x 5
Band good-mornings holding a KB (20 reps) x lunges holding DBs (10 each leg) - 3 sets
Abs x Oblique's - 3 x 10
Extra: band ham curls x 50
The Sunday training crew consisted of 10 guys at Elite Custom Fitness. Max effort deadlifts was in their plans. Casey was there helping them with technique, and coaching them through the lifts. A few hit big PRs. It was nice to see the way they all interacted with one another- busting each others balls and having a good time, which is how it should be. None of them have competed before and hopefully they got some encouragement to maybe test the waters. Casey does a great job coaching- he relates to the situation (I've been there or I had the same issue so to speak). It was a pleasure being there and I'm sure we will be visiting again soon.
