Over the last several weeks I have gotten questions that have been under the same umbrella of a topic that can all be answered in a series of blog posts. This is going to be HIGHLY opinionated based on how I was raised in this industry and will almost sound like common sense to some but trust me the trend now is high on the opposite side of the pendulum.

What are some things to consider when thinking about working with an in-person:

A. How long have you been doing any strength training-related activities for particular sport ?

1. were they guided or instructed

2. has any information been read concerning the proper progression

3. what is your goal in the sport or activity

B. Look up the sport within a  20-mile radius of where you live and see what pops up

1. what resources are available after this search?

C1. Do you have access to reading material regarding strength sport?

1. online resources that talk about training progression and equipment needed

2. online videos that talk about proper progression and how to do certain movements related to the sport

C2. Start reviewing material and see if you can implement progressions and have success

1. there are tons of “programs” out there that are general for particular sports. If you are new to anything strength sport related a general strength stimulus will elicit some type of positive response.

2. if the information is difficult to understand,  reach out to people - ESPECIALLY IF POINT B GAVE YOU SPECIFIC NAMES IN THE AREA- that you have heard of in the sport and see if they are willing to explain a topic (this will benefit you later down the outline in part 2)
