One last quick training session tonight and now I will shut it down for a week. 7 months post shoulder surgery I will take the platform again. The RPS Nationals seemed like a good meet to get myself back under the bars.
I did not put a lot of pressure on myself for this meet. My main focus over the past 4 months has been to get reunited with the bars. I tore my rotator cuff last Aug so it was almost 6 months not being able to train with bars. I feel good, I have had no shoulder pain for a while but am battling sore knees right now.
My squats are my enemy now but I will make them my friend once again. Deadlifts have always been my favourite of the big "3". As for my bench, well this is how I tore my rotator cuff so I'm still a bit hesitant but the confidence will come back with my strength.
In one week I will prevail. I am not a quitter and I don't like excuses.
Tonight's session:
GHR warm ups x 20
BANDED AB CRUNCHES X 20
BANDED SHOULDER STRETCHES
SQUATS (knees hurt)
Bar 65 lbs x 10
126 lbs x 3
176 lbs x 2/2
Trying to get my groove, I need to put the hooks in and take a wider grip with my shoulder and a narrower stance with my feet. A new learning curve with my squats.
DEADLIFTS
256 LBS 2/2/2
KETTLEBELL SWINGS
24 Kg x 25/25/25/25
For fun, here is a video from my last meet. A 440 Lb deadlift world record.
And that's all folks, catch you on the platform next weekend. I will be doing some light kettlebells, bands, foam rolling next week. I need to keep limber and mobile.
