APF Nationals - Michigan June 12

Training

Its de-load week prior to the meet day, this means that I a and m at the end of my taper and allowing my body to recover as much as possible to be as strong as possible come meet day. Believe it or not there are many ways to taper and de-load, these are my methods for getting ready for a meet.

Perspective

Not everyone will respond to taper's and de-loads the same, this takes the time of working with someone to figure out or time self-reflecting to note how you feel after trial and error. Some de-loads entail the main lifts at lower percentages, others only bodybuilding, and some even do nothing.

Coaching

De-loads during different phases may also require different means due to the stimulus needed or damage accumulated from the prior weeks of training. Working with my mentor we tried many ways and the one that stuck and made me feel the greatest related the most to popularized sports. I was taught powerlifting is a sport and just like these other main sports you do not completely stop "practicing" the week of the meet, thus we train the movements we will perform on meet day just at drastically lighter weighs to allow the patterns to sink in and get into the correct mindset. If you are looking for a different way, try it out and let me know what you think
