So, in four days the APF meet is supposed to be going down and at this stage, my body should be roaring and ready to go. Let me tell you right now, it is NOT, things have not been going well for me the last 3 weeks. Short of the long which will be covered in a later blog post, after taking my 3RM on deadlift and tweaking my back things got worse as the weeks went on. Back was not right and I made a very poor decision to start changing things on my deadlift which exacerbated the problem. So, four days out I have missed my opener on deadlift 3 times, I cannot get into a sumo stance and reach a bar with 1 plate on it without pain and conventional pulling my hip shift is still VERY apparent.

What has been implemented so far is I have seen chiropractor often who says he does not feel or see anything out of the norm with my spine or hips, which is good. I have reached out to a very gifted EliteFTS team member who has already given a bunch of their time and knowledge to me on how to try and get through this, will also go into detail about this after the meet as I will hopefully be working with them remotely as a client to try and correct these adaptions I have developed over the years leading to this.

Worst case scenario, I do not do the meet and I go to coach the rest of the IPA Powerlifting team. This is a variable I was not ok with a week ago and the more I digest the situation and factors the more I am ok and ready to make that call. So many mistakes made this prep that I am more knowledgeable about and can keep others from making the same mistakes. However, I will not make that call until game day, and yes, I will still be cutting in case things get worked out last minute which my teammate said is possible as the issues I have going on are manageable.
