I am currently 6 weeks out from the Arnold. As you know, deadlifts have been the biggest struggle this training cycle. Just to give myself a mental and physical break, I did not deadlift this week. After hitting a 10lb PR on squats, I could use a break from the heavy load anyway (that's what she said).

My back has also been feeling funny. And I felt it while doing yoga on Sunday. Something tweaked and I reacted. After relaxing for a few seconds, it went away. Nothing severe but just something I need to keep an eye on.

I did a Donnie Thompson day doing inversions with bands and x-wife roll outs. It helped a lot. When I got home, I took an Epsom salt bath. I took the time to do it twice this week.

Saturday, it's back at it. Heavy Squats.

P.S.

I haven't failed in the gym. I've hit every single lift, as I should. But the bigger picture is consistency and getting over mental barriers. Sometimes you just gotta take a step back.

So ask yourself, when was the last time you took care of your body? Your mind?
