Training

Was a little nervous on how training was going to pan out today. I have been going over my game plan and getting into a mindset of technique and not frustration. Last week my frustration got the best of me while learning hook grip and still not being able to hold onto lighter weight well.

Perspective

using 315 2 weeks ago aggravated my back and that was a partial range of motion off blocks. Between then and now my chiro "Dr. Bob" gave me some more cues to work on and that's what today was all about. I was able to go through a full range of motion and the entire was done pain-free with no twinges or signs of fatigue in my back so I have to take that as a huge win for the day.

Coaching

I cannot stress learning from your peers. This hook grip thing is some BS lol and is not a walk in the park for me. Just as my transition from conventional to sumo, 5 years ago, there was a learning curve and then I reaped the benefits of the dominant stance, lol. I have taken every cue into account by other coaches and lifters who know far more than I when it comes to technique and tricks of the trade. Just as every technique change, it is a learned skill, so don't bail on it at the first sign of struggle. Find someone who is good at it and reach out to them and ASK, "closed mouth don't get fed".
