What is #powerthroughcancer seminar series all about?
You may have seen Casey or myself posting about #powerthroughcancer seminar series we are promoting. We started this idea a few months back and after brainstorming and throwing ideas at each other, we came up with a seminar series where we can donate our time, team up with other gyms to donate their space, so 100% of proceeds we collect can go to a family in need.
Our friends at fitt.co have also graciously helped with marketing and getting the word out to our community to make this series an impactful one!
#powerthroughcancer
If it’s one thing we’ve learned, it’s that you should never underestimate the power of community. As Pittsburghers, the strength and support we lend each other—in health, fitness, and life in general—is what makes us us. So, when we really need to harness that power of community for a good cause, why not turn to a community of power?
We teamed up with Arsenal Strength to help kick #PowerThroughCancer, offering powerlifting seminars benefitting a local Pittsburgher’s fight and family.
The barbell benefit
Union Fitness started the series with a two-part seminar today. Casey and I provided hands-on coaching and post-lift Q&A sessions for a bench press seminar and a deadlift seminar.
Our first seminar kick-off at Union was a success raising almost 9k. The best part is, these people showed up to learn and support a family they don't even know. Casey and I don't know them well, but every time we've interacted with this lovely woman, it's always smiles and hugs and how are you's.
For those who cannot make the seminar and would like to donate or get to know a little bit more about the reasoning behind #powerthroughcancer, please click here.
I would like to give a shoutout to John Gaglione and Amy Presby for donating!
