Three years ago was when I really noticed it. I was bloated all the time. I was visiting doctors, and talking to some very knowledgeable health professionals, but everything I tried had poor results. I tried just about anything to help heal my gut and while I had some results, I still had some major issues. My body fat was higher than I wanted it to be and I was making very slow progress.

Last year I made a point to learn as much as I could, and take as many courses as I could about health, training, etc. At the time I had been seeing somebody for biosignature as a method of action to get healthy. I decided to take the course myself. While the course was quite overwhelming, I came back with a lot of ideas. I now understood some of the reasoning of what was happening to me, but needed to step back and look at the big picture.

I had been thinking of having my food sensitivity tested for a long time, but was worried about the costs, time, and effectiveness. To think about how much money I have spent on different methodologies makes me a little wary about trying something new.

I decided to bite the bullet and set up my food sensitivity with another biosignature practitioner, so I was able to get an accurate and in depth reading of my body fat, and find out my food sensitivities all at the same time. I was really interested to come back and see how well this would work!

The food sensitivity test was quick, and as I thought, I was sensitive to a really, really, REALLY long list of foods. Foods that most people would consider 'healthy' and foods that I was eating every day. Some of the foods I already knew immediately make me feel sick like most starchy carbs, eggs, dairy, bananas, peanut butter, etc. Some were a big surprise to me, foods I ate every day like cabbage, carrots, lemons, pork, etc.

The action plan was to eliminate all foods on my sensitivity test (90% of the time) and to start carb cycling to help with insulin sensitivity. The only carb that didn't show up on my list was buckwheat, so that is what I had added in on my high carb days. After about a month of following this plan, and even with my slip ups during my trip to Ohio, I managed to drop over 2% body fat, 4lbs and a TON of bloating! My body is feeling and performing better, which is a pretty big deal for me as well.

My goal moving forward is to continue to repair my gut, and find a happy place where I have optimal performance, look lean, feel good, and stay within my weight class year-round, even when I have a few slip ups.  I know this will be an ongoing project for me and I hope my struggle can help a few people out as well.
