Day 2 of the Odd Haugen Strength Challenge was the easy day with only one event, Silver Bullet Hold.

My mind was with it and positive I would beat my previous record of 45-ish seconds. Experience tells me that once your mind is pulled from "that place", you're out of luck and doomed. The best holds are those when you just check out mentally and let auto pilot take over to push your physical boundaries.

Fairly early on in my hold, the judge (Odd) gestured that I had to reposition the angle of my hand. I'm still not really clear what the issue was but I moved it enough to satisfy him and let me check back out mentally.

Things were rolling along and then the strangest thing happened. I still have no idea why but my LEGS started shaking and they were getting tired.  I had to move it was becoming so obnoxious and distracting. I moved my stance to find something more comfortable and my mental void was officially gone. Little by little I felt the bullet slide through the gripper.

Despite all the fight I had in me, I was only able to hold onto it for about 43 seconds. Once again, I was just short on this event from breaking my record. Who knew that two seconds could be so incredibly frustrating?

So basically I traveled all the way to LA to suck.  And then Disney.  The good news is I am home, plan on finally getting some sleep tonight and move forward. I am not totally sure what I'm moving forward with. I have some options and several competitive invitations on my plate. I need to take some time and evaluate what the plan is for the coming months. Until then, sleep is long over due!
