On this, what may very well be the last bench press of the year, I tore my Rotator Cuff. I was tracking down great, felt good, at the bottom my right shoulder went Pop and I felt a tear, Traci says "What the Hell Happened" I say, I just F'd my shoulder!

It's been a long frustrating week but I got what I needed, not what I wanted to hear but an answer none the less. Today I got 100 % confirmation from my Dr. that I will require surgery. I have a full tear of the supraspinatus tendon as well as Moderate right subdeltoid bursitis, fluid tracking along the longhead of the right bicep tendon which is a sign of glenohumeral joint effusion, and a grade 2 right supraspinaturs impingement. I have been battling an ongoing issue in my right bicep area for almost a year now. Symptoms which I thought to be bicep related, had treatments from two different Dr's but perhaps it has been weakened all this time and just took that last bench press to break it totally.

Whatever the reason, I will never ignore these kind of symptoms again for this long.

I was very persistant with the Dr's this week and had I sat back and took the appointments that they offered I would still be waiting for an ultrasound in September.  Squeaky wheel gets the grease right ? If I have learned anything from this so far is to not sit back and wait, if you are passionate about what you do (Passion Trumps Everything) and getting healed and recovered fast then you have to be aggressive, do whatever it takes to get the answers and fast.

You see, Ken and I were supposed to book our trip to Portugal this week to be part of Team Canada at the World Powerlifting Championships. This is about where I may break down and cry. This was a goal, a passion and now I have yet another set back and injury to overcome. I have overcome worse and now I know how Ken felt when he got injured 2 weeks before the Arnold's and couldn't lift. Lifting at the Arnold's was his huge goal and it broke his heart to sit out.

I also had set a big goal for October to get my Kettlebell Master of Sport, this too will have to wait. I may still compete and do my entire set with my left arm, I am pretty damn stubborn, relentless and competitive, although it would not be for my Master of Sport but just enough activity to keep me active and out of trouble.

I will still continue to teach and Coach Kettlebells and just use my left arm, although no doubles in my immediate future, I will leave those demo's up to Ken. It's about time he started Demoing more anyway, he usually does all the talking and let's me do all the work ! I am really looking forward to the hands on workshop at the Elitefts S4 Compound on September 5th where we can share our passion and knowledge with other Kettlebell enthusiasts.

I have undergone much worse with my back surgery 6 years ago. Read Related Log to my back surgery and how I overcame this major obstacle in life.

So waiting for a date to get my surgery booked I will NOT feel sorry for myself, I will continue to train, I will work on my other body parts, my legs, my glutes my abs, anything that does not require my right arm. Sitting getting my hair cut today reflection on what I can't do already and beside the lifting part is not being able to do my hair...... isn't that just a crazy thought.( I foresee a lot of baseball caps in my near future )  I don't like being dependant on anyone, at work people would always call on me to lift their heavy stuff or get something up high, now I am on light duties at work. But again, that's ok, not looking for sympathy or help, just looking to get healed up fast and come back even strong(her).

Injuries suck, setbacks suck but what doesn't kill us makes us stronger. Hell, two years ago I had knee surgery, the Doctor told me oh, your knee is no good, it's worn out, no more squatting. Well I said, I am not about to sit on the couch and eat Bon Bons and get fat so I will continue to squat until you need to replace my knee.

Since that wonderful Medical Consultation I have squatted 355 Lbs, almost got 370 Lbs, hold 4 World Records and and 12 National Records in the squat in just over a year so suck on that Dr. do little as possible.

For now that is my current situation, I have already qualified for the Arnold's for next year so I am sitting pretty in that respect, I just need to get in quickly for surgery, get healed, get strong again and I truly hope to be able to have my next competition be the Arnold's in March 2016.

I know my kettlebells will be great for my rehabilitation when that time comes so I am already looking forward to that part of this journey.

I will not stop training and posting my logs so stay tuned and see what I can do with this body, minus my right arm. I will repeat, just because one ride is broken the entire park does not have to shut down, I'm open all year round !
