Training is a HUGE part of my life but sometimes life dictates where and when I will be able to compete next. It comes with the territory when trying to balance adulting with your passion.
I was invited to compete in Relentless Minnesota this year but due to financial constraints, I had to back out of the meet.
To calm my frustration, I set a goal out to compete in the Lexen Fall Classic in October to qualify for the Arnold. I'm on the road to accomplishing a 900 total which includes a 400lb deadlift and a 200lb bench. Enough time to get my life in order and training back on track.
Strongman has been in the back of my mind. November was my last competition, qualifier for Nationals 2016, but I've committed to powerlifting this year. I've been going back and forth with Amy Wattles, and although her patience is as bad as mine, I think next year would be a good time to get back into it and train with all that I have.
I haven't been going full throttle in all areas of my life which is unlike me. Looks like me and my old friend Maslow have some discussing to do.
Set a goal. Envision it. Then, execute. That's what will keep you motivated. If you fail, try again.
