After a fairly long hiatus from strongman, I decided to get back in there and compete. I cannot really remember the last strongman competition I did but over the past couple of months I have redefined myself as an athlete and started back to event training. I am pleased with my progress and continue to adapt to my recent rather large weight loss. My next competition is United States Strongman Nationals on June 11, 2016 in Kentucky.

From 5/29

Rolling/Mobility

Fingal Fingers

Continued to work on the clean with this.  It is coming along very nicely.

Cleans x 5

Set of Flips, 1x5

Finger + 50 lbs chain

This went very well. Worked cleans and a few single flips in order to get a feel for the added weight inside the implement.

Conan's Wheel

I pulled the weight out closer to my body. The weight of a conan's carry is sort of irrelevant, due to the location of where the weight is actually sitting on the arm. I wanted to work on the feeling of "heavier".

250, 2x1 revolutions
340, 2x1 revolutions
430, 1x1 revolution
480, 1x.25 revolution

Stones to 52"

280, 1x1

The 220 and 240 stones are a serious problem. The actual stones are such a mess. It might be time soon to pour new ones. Ugh, that's a load of work but probably necessary. Dropped back down to 170, 2x5

This was my final event training, unless something changes by next Friday. While I would love another month to prepare for this competition, I am super pleased with the progress I have made in such a short time.  I have accomplished a ton overall for the first part of this year and then since my return to training strongman.
