4 Weeks Out from XPC Finals @ The Arnold Classic
Saturday was the second week of Circa Max leading into the meet in a few weeks. Mario, Bryan, Matt Smith, and I all squatted together and tried really pushing the pace and intensity like last week. We all ended up adding around 20lbs of bar weight to what we did last week for 5x2; some sets were faster than others. My work sets were 345 lbs plus 3 average bands per side; and while I got through the session and feel confident I gave all I had, I wasn't happy with how the squats looked. We have one more week of circa max, and I'll be looking to end on a really solid note next week. I'm putting 100% into these sessions and I'm trying to remember that is the important thing right now. Things have been a little rough lately, but I'm really trying to just put my head down and get through these final 4 weeks and this meet.
Mentally, I've been trying to take advantage of the 2 hour drive to elitefts to do some breathing and visualization drills; and taking time to do some other mental exercises throughout the week to help me with my anxiety and to get into the zone for training. Some things help more than others, but I'm trying to do everything I can to make sure I put 100% into this meet and these things are a helpful piece to the puzzle. The hardest thing continues to be the days following a hard training session and being unable to sleep or function normally, but I'm trying to just keep the blinders on and get through the rest of this training cycle. I know I'll be better off in the long run persevering through it.
