So today was the big day...a PRP injection in my left hamstring. Hats off to Dr. Tom Burnett of Legacy Medical in Pittsburgh- they had me in and out in two hours- one hour of which was me laying in the hyperbaric chamber post injection to speed up the healing process.

They have a great facility and are currently upgrading their space to include a chryochamber and possible some other cool recovery toys. I believe his brother is also a chiropractor. So it's becoming a one-stop shop for all things recovery.

This injection was 1000x better than the one in college in my MCL.  It was the worst pain of my life. They stuck the needle in the ligament and they basically scraped the bone in three places for three separate injections. Fortunately the hamstring was 1% of that pain and hopefully recovery will be expedited as it was with the MCL.

I headed to the gym after all of this and ran the mono and coached the guys through their squats. Joe was finishing his last week of the eccentric phase of triphasic. His squats look tighter than ever. Jon Abbey was working up to a heavy single front squat and finished right around 315. John W. got the short end of the stick- his last four weeks of squat were:

420x3x5 sets

420x4x5

420x5x5

420x6x5

He's responded surprisingly well to the volume. His technique has improved and his sets looked better today then in previous weeks, strength wise. We'll back him down next week and probably try something similar while incorporating shorter rest periods (while keeping the intensity relatively unchanged).  Paul worked up to his heaviest single at 455 in over a year. He's having some hip issues that we're working on in the gym and he's talking with multiple doctors and massage therapists. But he looks to be headed in the right direction.

Kendra and Cat had girl time between speed squats and pulls. They're like two peas in a pod.
