So after exhausting most of my options for fixing my hamstring (there are some other things I could do that wouldn't be worth the long term ramifications), I'm going to back out of the RPS Boardwalk Brawl. This is the first meet I've had this happen, but I'm sure due to unforeseen circumstances that it will happen again in the future.
I was actually mid squat session, still warming up, when I talked to Dave on the phone. Both he and I, along with Steve, agreed that it wasn't worth pushing through this one. My hamstring is still nagging and a 6 week injury could turn into a 6-12 month issue if I don't back off and fix it now. So I'll live to fight another day. The goal is to compete at the Lexxen Fall Classic at the end of October in Columbus.
My training session ended up like this...
Band stretch hamstrings and hip flexors
Ex wife hamstring
150x5x2 sets
240x3
330x2
420x2
510x2
Loaded the bar for 600 and before I took it my phone rang
330x5x4 sets
Deadlifts
225x5
275x5
