I'm taking the next 12+ weeks off from strongman events and training primarily for hypertrophy with a slight strength emphasis. I'm in my "off-season" and looking to put on some size over the upcoming months and into next year. I'm working with teammate Mike Mastell on my programming.

I'm a little behind in getting the past couple of weeks of training sessions updated. On top of my normal family, career, life and training responsibilities I've also sold a car, bought a truck and bought Mason a new puppy from a rescue shelter. I'm not one to miss training sessions, but unfortunately the past two weeks I did have to omit a training day. Those things took up a lot of time as well as training and house breaking a new puppy. Since I'm not training for a specific contest and this is off-season training I'm not too concerned about having to omit a day each week. I only had to "miss" Leg Day #2 for the last two weeks. I wouldn't say I truly missed it though, ha.

Mason has been obsessed with dogs since he could first speak. Dog was even one of his first few words. Every little boy needs a dog so we decided to get him one. We ended up finding a lab/beagle/basset-hound mix at a rescue shelter in Southern, IL. He was 4 months old and has been great so far. Mason loves him and he's well behaved and smart. He's also great with Mason. He named him, BoBo. Having BoBo around is a lot of fun for everyone and it'll be great for Mason to grow up with a dog to join him in his outside adventures.

I also sold my car and bought a  new truck all in this past week. Selling my car took up a lot of time having to meet people to test drive it, etc. Then I spent a lot of time online researching what I wanted to buy and finding the best deal. I ended up having to drive a little over 2 hours away to Evansville, IN, but they had the best deal and I ended up with a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado.

Training has been going really good and I've definitely gained some size. My strength still feels solid and I'm excited to see how it is once my training focus changes back. I've also had to buy all new jeans to fit my legs and glutes. And I've outgrown a handful of t-shirts. So I can't complain about any of this. I do have one more week of this hypertrophy specific training left before transitioning into some more strength focus. I plan to compete in December at USS Hope for the Holiday's competition where I'll be doing the strongman push/pull events. It'll be max deadlift from the floor and max log clean & press.
