APF Nationals - Michigan June 12

Training

It has felt like forever since I have trained at the compound, I usually do not when an event is going on due to travel and usually training on Saturday and Monday. Julia had the great idea to do max effort stuff at the compound and do all accessories on the following Monday. I was all for it and it turned out to be awesome!

Perspective

Although this was a frustrating training session I was able to learn a lot of what I needed to work on if I decided to continue pulling hook grip or change my mind and buckle down in learning a proper mixed grip.

Coaching

Hook Grip:
- learning to force my thumb joint to be more mobile so I can bend it more to grab more of it with my fingers.

Mix Grip:
- really start breaking up forearms and getting the ability to externally rotate my under grip better
- learn more about something I learned called a "Sinch Grip". This is where you act like you are rining the bar out like a wet towel before attempting your pull. I have not implemented it yet but will on my next speed deadlift day
