APF Nationals - Michigan June 12

Training

So I misread my training and was supposed to do doubles with chains last week but ended up doing singles. This kind of messed up my progression as this week was supposed to be singles, so I just added 2 chains total to the bar and worked up to another max effort single. Normally on the bench when doing max effort days (and even Speed days) I limit the chain weight to 4 chains total (80lbs ROUGHLY at lockout). I have never attempted to do this amount in chain's but it ended up going pretty dang well, I will say, these caught up to us FAST!!!

Perspective

As I've been preaching in the past, there is always an audible that can be made. It may not be ideal for the original plan at hand, but it can be done in a way that does not take away from the big picture.

Coaching

When getting closer to a meet I would suggest staying away from bands as accommodating resistance under one circumstance, you are actually doing a true Circa Max and understand what you are doing it for and how to implement it. This is not groundbreaking but bands take much longer to recover from than chains. If you are interested in running band tension and have never done it before, make sure to experiment with it further away from a "peak", or a testing day that you are using to figure out your meet numbers.
