APF Nationals - Michigan June 12
Training
Was not sure how bench was going to go today as this will be the closest to a competition bench I have taken since the meet. We went with a straight bar against chains to work on some acceleration through the movement and also some lockout power. I was pleasantly surprised what I was able to work up too, I will mention I failed to read my own workout correctly and was supposed to take a double but for some reason started taking singles several sets prior to my top set.
Perspective
Since today turned into a max single adjustment's will have to be made to next week's ME bench day. Is this a problem, not at all, this just means we can "transition" a little more into competition lifts as we are 5 weeks out from the meet.
Coaching
When structuring your programming always start ON meet day and work your way back. This allows you to choose main movements that are relatively close to your competition lifts first and think about ways to transition them into non-competition movements. Be sure to make some of the main movements strengths and some weaknesses, as mentioned in an earlier log, main movements that are weaknesses can be used the furthest away from the meet to make them better
