Don't Be This Person

If you hired a trainer to help build your deadlift, one that was already really good, 700 Pounds. You looked for the best and who you found was one of the most expensive trainers in the field. This trainer told you from the onset that his average results were 10% but not only that you would pull your max just as fast, if not, faster than before. It would take 9 months to program and build this but it could be done beyond your expectations. Yes, you would have to put the work in and trust in his advice.

Now over the first 4-6 and 9 months you ran into some delays, overuse injuries and the trainer may have bit off more than he could chew. This got so bad you had to pass up on the Worlds (your main objective of the year). One year later you are still not ready to begin training for a meet due to all the strains and other injuries. 16 months later you're almost ready to begin training for a meet but have had to spend hundreds - thousands on physical therapists and other specialists to help you out.

As you begin your training for this meet the trainer has re-framed the original statements. You will now be looking at pulling 50% less than before (now not even enough to qualify for the Nationals) and it will take 5 times longer to pull due to all the injures and nerve damage.

So you used to rip 700 pounds up in 2 seconds and now with this great trainers advice and program you are now broken and according to their assessments you will be pulling around 350 and it will take 10 seconds to stand up with. However they stand by their program and say it was solid based on the results of others.

He never said that his original sales proposition didn't apply to everyone and results do very. He does, however,  talk a lot about how great he is and all the tiles and records he has won.

If you were this trainer how long do you think you would be in business?

I don't bitch about online programing very often but this is total bullshit when I hear things like this.

Maybe this is how the rest of the business world works but we CAN do better.

If you land a client that is over your head , send them to someone else. Have some respect for the profession you are helping to shape and create.

I would love to read your thoughts on this. Please post below. Should this trainer have taken this client or not?
