This Week’s Coaching Log:
Those who follow our weekly Coaching Logs know this, but if you are not familiar with our weekly logs, the basic plan we have each week is to provide you with a morsel of information that in some way, shape or form has a positive impact on your training and/or competition. Some of our coaching logs are big picture or from 30,000 feet as they say, while others are are as tight and as specific as one little tidbit that you can immediately use in your powerlifting.

For today’s Coaching Log, we have reached into our mail bag. I love the emails/messages we get but it is not always possible to reply to everyone. This week however there were several questions that were the same and we are going to use that as an opportunity to provide you with the answer to these questions in hopes that it might be an answer to a question you also had.

The question being, what bar, if any would you add to your collection, keeping in mind there is a budget involved. My answer to that is, although there are many bars that are multi-purpose and serve a great purpose, the Rackable Cambered Bar and the El Gordo Fat Bar both fit that bill. For the purpose of this log, we feature some up-close footage of 800LB bencher and 1,025LB squatter, WPC World Powerlifting Champion, Steve Brock, training with the El Gordo bar.

EL GORDO FAT BAR

In the video we have added some information to highlight some of the key features to this bar and why it is virtually always in use at the Monster Garage Gym for either tricep work, bench work, pressing work , incline press or deadlift work. The bar is simple, effective, utilitarian, versatile, brutal and way less expensive than you would think for the bang you get out of your buck. Who am I to question the pricing, but for cash, this bar of steel, is a steal. In fact at the price, I actually reached out to some other members of Team Elitefts who have this bar to see what the catch was. Bottom line, some things live up to what they are supposed to and this bar does just that and more.

Anyway, that is the answer to this question, the Rackable Cambered Bar (we can do a log on that bar sometime as well) and the El Gordo Fat Bar for versatility when on a budget.

Wishing all of our weekly coaching log readers the best in your training and competitions. Ever Onward, Eric Maroscher, Owner: MONSTER GARAGE GYM
