I will be in town this weekend and wanted to "pick your brain and maybe catch a workout"
I want to note again that I do spend over 40 hours per week offering free advice via IG, AMAs, DM, Blogs, Emails, Text, Articles, Videos - and have for over 20 years.
I am not blowing smoke out my ass, and all of this is easily verifiable.
Business talks take more time than training, and there are so many unknowns. I have seen and made many mistakes that I know what things to not do and what things should be strongly considered before moving forward. I would spend 5-6 hours with the person speaking about their plans, objectives and then help find the gaps they were not seeing. This came to a head when I helped one gym owner who ended up setting up a training center down the road from a gym who used elitefts for all their equipment needs, and this new gym didn't buy a thing from elitefts.
YES. I was frustrated, but I was MORE frustrated that I just created a situation that was a disservice to a customer who valued what we stood for and supported the same things we do. I learned from this that people do buy and support companies based on the values they share with the companies they do business with. This doesn't suggest people want to suck other people for all they can for free. They just don't value education the same. Not everyone will (or should) value the same things.
From that point on, I began charging up to $4500.00. If they did business with elitefts, this money would be issued back to them. Finally, I realized this is a competitive service advantage we can offer our customers and team members, as we do with product use, training advice, online educational access.
All of these things still happen today, but the two things I am very conscious of are; do we share the same business values and is this a service or disservice to those who support or will support elitefts?
Over the next several posts, you will be surprised at who I will sit down and talk with, who I will let come out to train, who I will travel to do seminars for - at no cost, who I have no problem spending hours tapping out a solid training template for and why I will never charge them.
