My hope is that my coaching log will help you by:

  • Showing the benefits of high intensity/low volume training that I’ve followed injury free for over 20 years which has developed into the The Minimalist/M2 Raw Training Method and the The M2 Equipped Training Ebook
  • Teaching through the experiences of my training partners and I.
  • Helping to show how to overcome adversity, regardless of what it may be, because we all have it.
  • Demonstrating the equipment I’ve designed to help benefit lifters such as yourself.

I guess benching over 600 a few times (I know, I know, the shirt did it all) took a toll after all.  In honor of this, here’s my best equipped bench of 622 @ 165 at the 2009 APF Senior Nationals:

Now I look back and wonder how the hell I was capable of that.

Anyhoo, I had to get another shoulder X-ray (they somehow weren’t able to find the last one) prior to my stem cell treatment next week. As the tech was looking at the images he said “Have you had previous shoulder issues?” Now I can see why. It looks like I’m missing more than just cartilage. It looks like my acromion process is missing or at least isn’t where it’s supposed to be. This may just be the angle of the X-ray, but either way it doesn’t look right. It’s also obvious where the head of the Humerus digs into the Glenoid Fossa (that’s not funny, is it?) when I bench causing discomfort and the horrible crunching sound. Hopefully the magic umbilical cord stem cells will fix this and more. The plan is for me to receive 30 million cells into my shoulder and another 90 via IV infusion to hopefully correct my autoimmune issues, the worst of which is chronic joint pain.  I either do this or continue to take meds that just mask the symptoms (and not very well either) for the rest of my life.

I’ve read both positive and negative about the stem cells at this point. The most controversial for me is whether or not the stem cells are alive (they obviously won’t help if they’re not). I really just need to stop researching since I’m going to do it either way. I’m also concerned about spending this much money (not that I have the money to spend to begin with.  I did get a Wells Fargo Propel Mastercard with points).  I even asked Trinity if it was selfish of me to spend this much money on something just for myself when I could potentially help other people with it. She had a profound answer, she said “You have to put on your own oxygen mask before you can help others put on theirs.” She’s right.
