Westside Training, Conjugate Training, or what Louie says only works for multiply lifters who use steroids, right?
I trained at Westside for 15 years. I was NOT a 3, 6, or 12-month Westside Warrior. I am not Westside certified and didn't intern there. I don't have a picture of Louie and me together, don't sport a Westside tattoo and don't need any of this shit to know what fucking Westside Training is or to remind me of all the things Louie and the gym taught me. I may see Louie once a year, but feel I understand him better than most, learned more from him than I can ever repay, and elitefts may not exist if it wasn't for him. PERIOD.
My point is, I know WSBB much better than the people who say it's only for Multiply Powerlifting because I was there, lived it, learned it, coached it, and allowed it to become my identity. Not some slap dick that did an internship and now feels they can expose the truth! I was also at most, if not all of, the very first seminars Louie did (not including all the ones I did later). There were also a ton of visitors.
You know who made up the bulk of the visitors and attendants? NOT fucking multiply lifters. Coaches and trainers! I saw visiting coaches go from once every couple months to every week. I saw this go from us being excited to see these coaches visit - to see them become a weekly distraction that needed to slow down (Louie never asked a dime from them). I am not talking about a couple or several, but hundreds of non-multiply visitors. If you add in all the DVD sales to coaches, we quickly get into the thousands. You know the other thing Louie did more than anyone else? Ask questions!
Louie is not known worldwide because the shit ONLY works for multiply powerlifters. Since I left in '05, his popularity has increased tenfold. Meanwhile, multiply powerlifting has substantially decreased.
I would be willing to bet that the MINORITY of people using the Westside System are multiply lifters. A very small minority at that. If anyone thinks this isn't true, please tell me how you got to that conclusion.
To say that it's only good for multiply lifters is ignorant. Look, I know I am biased. I have never said otherwise. At the same time, I know other training schemes work. I have never let my bias stop me from seeing if there are things that I could learn from others because I don't care about validating what I know. I want to find what I don't.
Guess where I learned that from?
If you don't like it, just fucking say so. Don't be an Instapunk and hide behind bullshit excuses. Assuming it doesn't work or will only work for one group makes you look far more the fool than just being fucking honest and saying you don't like it or you don't know how, or just don't want to make it work.
If you’ve been around long enough, you realize ALL training can work with the right application, assuming the coach understands the application.
I’d say the exact same thing about Block Training or any other method.
