Bent Over Rear Lateral Raises with Kettlebells

Category: Supplemental

Muscles Targeted: Shoulders and Traps

This movement is performed the same way as rear lateral raises with dumbbells.

Start with your knees slightly bent, back arched and bent over. Keeping a slight bend in your arms raise your arms out to the side contracting the rear delts and upperback. It helps to think of pulling your elbows up instead of your hands. This will allow you to keep more focus on the rear delts and traps.

The kettebells provide a different feel because of the different weight distribution so slow the tempo down until you get the hang of the movement. It is very easy to start swinging the bells and taking much of the stress off the rear delts and onto the lower back.
