This is a great exercise for teaching the top portion and set up of the squat for multi-ply geared lifters. Many times these lifters have difficulty setting up maximal weights with full gear because of stability, balance and equipment learning issues. This exercise also teaches them the ability to fight at the bottom of the lift to get those extra few inches required to break parallel.
