I recently lifted in the 2019 USPA National Championships where I totaled 1767 in wraps at 198 via a 655 squat, 451 bench and 661 deadlift. I'm looking to compete in December to wrap up the year.

When I wrote up this second lower training day, my main objective was to get another large compound movement that would also be a good quad builder. I also wanted to try some things I haven't done before, so I went with a trap bar deadlift.

Turns out it was a little too much in one week! My hips weren't recovered from the squatting earlier in the week, so I kept it pretty light. I wanted to get the work in, but didn't want to sacrifice my main lower training in the next week. I'm going to make an adjustment here and likely switch this out for a leg press next week. I'll still accomplish the main goal and end up a little less abusive.

I was also having some odd knee pain that I think is the result of a worn out pair of dress shoes. My feet had been bothering me for a couple weeks and then the left knee started to not feel awesome too. That didn't help my cause at all during this session. Rolled out my feet on a lacrosse ball and immediately felt relief. Then, this morning, I realized my work dress shoes have worn really unevenly as I was walking into the office. I think I might know the issue...
