Events @ Brute Strength Gym
I drove down to Norfolk, VA today to visit Brute for two reasons. First to train at one of my all time favorite gyms anywhere and second to get data for my research class for PT school in the form of having strongmen and women fill out a questionnaire. Results were outstanding across the board and I gotta send out a huge THANK YOU to all the guys and girls who took the time to help me out. Hopefully the data will eventually lead to some pretty cool research down the road.
Circus DB C&P
band warmup
1ea x 115
3ea x 115
1ea x 165 - RAW
2x3x165 - Added belt and wrist wraps, first set R, 2nd set L
6x165 - 3xR then 3xL, breathing was the only thing limiting me here and it feels like it is getting better. Pretty far off my best all time at this weight which was 9 reps way back in Brute's Strongest Man IV, but as long as my work capacity keeps improving I see no reason why I won't be tip top again in a few months.
Farmer's Walk
2x50' x 125
50' x 215
50' x 265
50' x 305
50' x 355 - This is the heaviest farmer's I've done since I've been in PT school and it felt like I had more in the tank (video).
Atlas Stone Series (to 48")
3x215 - Shouldering, tackyless
1x295, 1x315, 0x335 - I didn't have enough tacky so by the time I got to the 3rd stone it was used up and filthy.
1x335 - Re-tacked and it went up no problem.
2x{1x295, 1x315, 1x335} - One motioned the 295 on the last set (video) which is a size PR for me for one motioning since it is a 19" stone.
I'm very happy with how training went today. I was pretty damn sore in my whole back (upper, middle, and lower) from the car DL sim on Thursday, but I took extra time in my warmups and everything felt great.
Lots of guys and girls from Brute were up in Cbus competing at the Arnold and so far it sounds like everyone is kicking major ass across the board, so congrats to all of y'all and big thanks to Stella for using Brute's social media to get the word out about me needing people to stop by and fill out my questionnaire. Also, it sounds like my EliteFTS teammates are wrecking it up at the Arnold as well so congrats to everyone who has finished up there with all the PRs and WRs being smashed!
