Prepping for the APF-AAPF Orlando Barbell Florida State Meet - February 28, 2015. Qualified National Strongman competitor and will be competing this coming October, 2015. I am here to live, learn, and pass on.
Sorry for not posting sooner: school and work has been crazy; I went out of town this past weekend; and this week my landlord decided to switch providers, so I had no internet access at home and currently at a Starbucks writing this (what a hipster). I will be posting last weeks training just because it went so well and I hit a few PR's. Also, I'm adjusting to the new and improved website and WOW, the EliteFTS team did a really great job -- Kudos to you guys! If you thought the website was great before...oh man, hold on to your pants.
I am going to start with last weeks bench session on 1/29/2015
Did reverse band bench with the Pro Monster Mini Restistance Bands - (PR)
Last time I did reverse bands was about 8 months ago (give or take) and I used the Pro Light Resistance Bands with 215lbs for a single. I ended up hitting 220lbs for 3 x 1 with the Pro Monster Mini Restistance Band . There are different bands that vary in tension. Using the pro monster mini bands didn't help much ascending from the bench as the thicker pro light resistance bands would, so to be able to bench with heavier weight and less resistance was awesome. It really depends on what your goal is for that training cycle or day. I think it would be better to use a heavier resistance band if you are aiming for volume or working on form/technique, or go lighter like I did to really handle heavier weight on your hands.
Thank god I was in the presence of people that were thinking straight because if I had enough in the tank to get 220 for 3 singles, why not just go up in weight and really go balls to the wall. Hit another big PR with 230 lbs for a single. Strength is going up and I am feeling more and more comfortable with my form.
Followed by:
- De-loaded to 185lbs (reverse bands) to get some volume in - 5 x 5
- Pause bench - 135lbs (without bands) for 5 x 5
- Close grip - 95lbs for 3 x 10
- JM Presses (light) - 55lbs for 3 x 15
- Band face pulls x 100
- Band tricep pushdowns x 100
Thank you for being a part of my journey. Suggestions and comments are always welcomed!
