I recently lifted in the 2019 USPA National Championships where I totaled 1767 in wraps at 198 via a 655 squat, 451 bench and 661 deadlift. Next up is an off-season and picking a meet.

The timing of the meet and subsequent deloading has been perfect. I've had a lot of travel going on, twice to Mexico for work in the past 4 weeks, 4th of July travel and then gone again at least twice more this month. Every trip has gone really well! But it has meant that training took a backseat as soon as the meet was over.

I'm also starting a new job next week and have started some work for that too. Same company, now working with our merger and acquisition integration team evaluating target organizations. I'm getting involved in some really cool stuff, but it does mean a heavy workload right now.

Right now I'm on a plane coming back from California. I did manage to get a little training in the past couple days though.

Sunday

I did a very light lower body session at home. Some goblet squats, 1 leg deadlift, leg extensions and a few SSB squats at 135. The goal was to knock the rust off and just get moving. I didn't want to load my spine up much.

Monday

I was in San Diego and managed to get a quick one in at a gym near our hotel that had a view of Petco Park.

San Diego Petco Park Gym

The gym itself was pretty lame and super expensive but the view was cool! Not that it mattered much, all I did was a bunch of upper back work on their machines. Some pull ups, a variety of different rows and finished off with some light cardio.

Next week I will formally start an off season block. My main focuses will be squat strength at depth, 2 board height bench movements and strength right off the floor in the deadlift. Things will start out light and progress slowly for the first couple weeks to continue to allow my body to recover.
