Finally! Week 1 of this 12 week training cycle is here and today was a good day. With my shoulder being what it is I will have to train within the confines of my current abilities and be very smart, precise and well lucky....Me knowing this as I prepare to go full bore into my training cycle, the lift I could always count on well I cant count on. Being hurt is one thing. Being injured is entirely another.

I'm sure your saying why risk doing further damage and not just get surgery and rehab and come back at 100%. Well I have those answers:

1. My squat is stronger now than it has ever been - if I have surgery now it will be another 2 years before I can get back to where I am currently and that is if I can get back to where I currently am.
2. My deadlift....believe it or not is doing pretty ok. Better than it has anyways. Again - if I have surgery now blah blah blah....
3. Me having a good shot at a decent multiply total for an old guy is there. Its just doing it.
4. With my current state of mind and my age, the days of trying to beat any and everyone I can are gone. I have a couple of things left on my bucket list I want to take some shots at and achieve. Surgery will set me back even further.
5. Who's to say in 2 more years I will even be ready, or be as motivated as I am now and still wanting to go after these goals I still have and even more important, will my health allow me to in two more years.

I also understand nothing is guaranteed, doing this meet as well. No meet ever is. Nothing in life is for that matter. My mind is ready and I am determined and I believe in myself for what I am setting out to do. So there you go in a nut shell. I have 3 multiply full power meets under my belt. This meet in December will make my fourth. Still virgin territory as far as full power meets go. This bench only guy has a little left in the tank.
