COACH

In a previous Table Talk video, Dave addressed the three biggest mistakes that intermediate lifters make when they enter the world of strength training. Before ever making it to these common intermediate mistakes, however, you have to overcome the biggest problem that plagues nearly all beginning lifters: excuses.

In this edition of Table Talk, Dave discusses why beginning lifters are so prone to using excuses to explain their lack of progress — and how they might be able to overcome this weak-mindedness. Rather than worrying about little things in training, Dave explains that the first step to growing is taking ownership of your role as a beginner. Once you understand (and accept) where you are and know where you want to end up, you can begin formulating a plan to get there.

Do you really know as much as you think you do?
