Steve Pulcinella has been passionately strength training since the age of twelve and competing in strength athletics since the age of fourteen. He started out as a powerlifter and progressed into doing strongman. After winning many powerlifting titles in the early eighties, Pulcinella then progressed into doing professional strongman contests. His biggest pro strongman title was the 1993 North American Champion and he was selected as a competitor in the 1994 World’s Strongest Man Contest. He has also been a Highland Games Professional since 1994 and has since retired in 2012 due to injuries. Pulcinella started Iron Sport Gym in 1995, a commercial gym in Philadelphia that specializes in strength training, powerlifting, Olympic lifting and strongman.
This month’s featured program should help build confidence by benching with low rep sets with lower percentage weights and practicing higher percentage singles. Feel free to toss in some assistance work while you’re at it, too.
