Max Effort Lower
I'm finally starting to really trust my lower back health, so It's getting easier to select exercises that really challenge it.
Raw work
So not much, but since I'm 3 months out, I can afford to back off a bit to stay healthier later.
Suit Squats
Good day overall. Didn't do much in terms of weight, but I know more than I did before about I'm gonna take the next step towards the platform.
Raw work
For my last meet in June, I barely trained more then 2 days per week, since I was coming off a 6 month layoff from all lower body work. I had a surprisingly good meet, but I knew I needed to start ramping my volume up in order to get back to pro-level competition. Since […]
Incline bench
The main lift for the day was an incline bench press, which is a bit of a departure for us.
Raw work
Got a couple of raw days in this week, to try and gain some muscle and raw strength before I start training for a November meet. I will leave these mid-week sessions in for the duration of my meet prep.
Shirt bench
Of course, I could always use the bigger shirt to open in, then switch to the small one for a big third attempt... Time will tell.
Powerlifting Experience 2 Part Deux!
I thought poor Harry Selkow was gonna have a seizure from laughter at this.
Powerlifting Experience 2 - Part 1!
These guys did awesome, and I’m proud to have been there to help with their progress.
IPA Strength Spectacular Meet Report
Most of all, Thank you to my wife, for spending all day with our son James, so I could spend father’s day doing what I love!
Benching
The extra bodyweight should help me fill out the prototype King Bencher, and the rest from here on in will let my arms and shoulders heal up enough to bench for a good total, if not a pr.
Squatting
Glad to be done with bands! Next week will be super light, then the week after that will be the meet.
Sucking at Shirt Work
So kind of a crap day, but I was able to take home a valuable piece of information that will hopefully contribute to a good performance in a couple of weeks.
Squat from Last Week
The lift was a box squat agains a strong and average band. In other words, it was f*cking hard.
Board presses
Pretty happy with this, but I can feel myself starting to get beat up. Looking forward to finishing out the cycle!
Speed pulls
I feel like I'm getting a little better at pulling faster off the floor, and not trying to 'ease" the bar off the floor.
Raw Squatting
I was pissed that I screwed my arms up on what was basically a light day, but I was happy with how light the weight actually felt.
RPS South Jersey Rumble Meet Report
We all stayed, that is, except for Ferret, who had to leave to catch a flight. He was on his way to a Caribbean Cruise… with his parents. Yeah, I know.
Buffalo Bar Benching
Having never done it, I stayed a bit conservative with the weights, but was happy with how I ended up.
Last Week
Last week went from severely humbling, to pretty cool, which is usually the case when I go from a deadlift to a bench session.
Squatting... Things are looking up!
With last week being a bit on the humbling side, I was looking forward to a big squat session to get things back on track.
Some more catch-up, benching and squatting
I'm looking forward to getting back on a meet platform sometime this summer!
Raw Deadlift (for reals)
But the fact is that my pull sucks, and it's never going to get better if I don't work at it.
Prototype Shirt Work!
Since I plan on going 220 rather than 198 the next time I hit the meet platform, I think I'll be able to bloat into it!
Iron Maidens Meet Report!
I wasn’t worried about the lifters mind you, I was concerned for my own life.
